Anytime you are just beginning any kind of new project, which includes simply learning about it, there is either a feeling of excitement or possibly dread.

We would not be doing this if we did not want to help out others, so here we are! After you learn more, then not all articles will be helpful, but it is worth it in our eyes to read them because of the occasional gem that is found. There can be trials and tough times, as you know, but if you have a certain amount of belief in your self then we know you will be fine.

Even the less imposing speed bumps will become almost insignificant because of the accumulate experience and knowledge you will have acquired.

Using the appropriate dog training tools can make things easier for both you and your dog. You can often teach your dog something a lot more quickly when you have the right tool at your disposal, whether it’s a collar, leash, clicker or anything else. The things we’re exploring in this article can all be helpful in increasing your chances of finding success through your dog training efforts.

Some people have had success with remote controlled reward trading systems. Premier Manners Minder has a great program for dogs. The benefit of using this particular method is that you can reward your dog from a distance. Some dogs will jump on other people. Others will bark incessantly. This training system will help them break these habits. This is basically a high tech way to use positive reinforcement to teach your dog good behavior. The ability to give rewards at a distance makes this program unique. Basically, a machine gives out the treats to your dog without you having to be there.

There are a lot of different things that can help train your dog to increase his or her agility. This is something that is particularly important when you want to turn your dog into a show dog. However, it’s also a good idea simply to keep your dog fit and healthy. Of course, exercising with your dog is also an option as is taking him for a run and throwing things for him to fetch. This will be good exercise, but if you get a dog agility kit, you can keep him even more fit and agile. You can choose between whole kits or individual pieces like obstacle courses, tunnels or other things that you can train your dog to run through or over. This is not only good for your dog’s health, it gives you a way to train him in a precise manner that will make him more obedient and responsive overall.

One specific dog training device has been around for quite some time is – the dog whistle! Emitting a high-pitched frequency that humans are not able to hear, the whistles will definitely get the attention of your dog.

Once you have adjusted the whistle so that your dog can hear it very clearly, you can begin training them. You can use the whistle to train your dog. The commands that you give (like sit or stay) are done in conjunction with different whistle tones to do the training. Those of you that have two dogs should buy two whistles. Doing this helps each dog listens to specific commands based upon each whistle.

It is important, when training your dog, to use methods that have worked before in order to ensure your success. Having some effective tools can also make the task easier. By using the tools and strategies in this article, you are utilizing what many experienced dog trainers use for their dog training. You may not need any particular tool to train your dog, but in many cases it will make your job simpler. You can also look at personalized dog collar as another form of training tool for your dogs

The Belgian Malinois originated in the city of Malinois, Belgium, from which it takes its name. Standing at between 22 and 26 inches, and weighing 55 to 65 pounds, the breed somewhat resembles the German Shepherd, but is slightly smaller and has a lighter build.

There are, in fact, four closely related breeds of Belgian sheepdog. In addition to the Malinois you’ll find the Tervuren, Groenendal, and Laekenois. Different kennel clubs recognize these breeds differently, some consider them variants of a single breed, while others have accredited each as a breed in its own right.

From its roots as a shepherd dog, the Malinois has developed into one of the most widely used law enforcement dogs worldwide. Their obedience and intelligence makes them ideal for bomb detection, search and rescue, narcotics work and guarding.

These are smart, loyal dogs who are strongly protective and territorial in nature. They are suitable as family pets but need training, socialization and consistent leadership. They also need fairly vigorous exercise and will do best with an active family who can give them plenty of attention and companionship. A bored and under-exercised Malinois will soon develop behavioural issues like chewing, problem barking and digging.

Socialization is important, especially with children, other dogs and non-canine pets. But even a well socialized Malinois may try to be dominant with other dogs, so be sure to supervise situations where dominance may be an issue, like meal times.

Another trait they you may find disconcerting is that the Malinois likes to nip at the ankles of anyone in close proximity, a remnant of their past as a herding dog.

It should be clear by now that the Malinois is not the ideal dog for an inexperienced dog owner, and you should give it a lot of thought before adopting one. Ask yourself if you are up to the responsibility and if not, choose a more pliant breed, a Lab perhaps.

The Belgian Malinois is a generally healthy dog that suffers from few of the diseases that typically afflict purebred dogs. They are, however, prone to a number of less serious ailments including, epilepsy, thyroid problems, cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. In terms of behavioral problems, you may see aggression, or shyness in dogs that have not been socialized.

The Malinois is an easy breed to care for and requires only a good brush down a few times per week to keep the coat looking its best.

The Malinois is a working dog and not ideally suited to apartment living. They can however do okay in a smaller space provided they get rigorous daily exercise. They do like to be outdoors, but they are generally devoted to their families and would much rather live indoors among their human ‘pack’.

If you’re looking for dog names, for your Belgian Malinois, I’d recommend Puppy Names HQ, a site with an extensive database of dog names, including thousands of male dog names.

Canine Parvovirus (also known as Parvo, or CPV) is a deadly, highly contagious disease. CPV is currently the most common infectious canine disease in the US, and although there is a vaccine that protects against the virus, it does not offer full protection against all strains.

As a dog owner, it is therefore important that you know about the disease, how it is spread, what the symptoms are, and what action to take if you think your dog may have contracted it.

Although CPV can occur in adult dogs, it most commonly affects puppies and young dogs, by attacking their underdeveloped immune systems. Certain breeds, including Doberman Pinschers, Labrador Retrievers, and Rottweilers are known to be particularly susceptible to canine parvovirus.

The first indication that a dog may have contracted parvo will be a high fever, along with general lethargy, depression and loss of appetite. The dog may then begin vomiting and may develop diarrhea, which has a distinct yellow look and a particularly foul smell.

As the disease spreads it will cause severe dehydration and the dog may go into shock. The virus may also enter the heart, causing heart failure. It is not unknown for heart failure to occur months, even years, after the parvovirus infection.

The most common form of the disease is enteritis. This attacks the digestive system, damaging the lining of the stomach and intestines and making it impossible for the body to process nutrients and fluids. The dog will develop chronic diarrhea with blood in the stool and will inevitably die, if not treated.

Even dogs that survive CPV tend to be sickly throughout their lives.

There is no known cure for parvovirus, and the treatment is largely supportive, for example, giving the infected dog IV fluids to prevent dehydration. The vet may also administer an intravenous balanced electrolyte solution, while antibiotics are usually given to fight off secondary bacterial infection.

Depending on the severity of the infection additional medication may be given. If the dog is in shock corticosteroids may be administered, while an antiserum may also be prescribed.

One of the reasons that Parvo is so dangerous is that the virus is extremely resilient. It is transmitted through contact with the faeces of an infected dog, and can live in ground that was exposed to the faecal matter for up to as six months.

It withstands most household cleaners and commercial disinfectants, although undiluted chlorine bleach has prove to be effective in killing it.

The best way to prevent parvo is to ensure that your puppy is vaccinated. The vaccine is not completely effective, but it dramatically increases a dog’s resistance to the disease.

You should also not allow your puppy to play or otherwise interact with dogs you are not familiar with. In fact, keep your puppy confined to your premises until he has completed his course of puppy shots.
